We emailed to book a table to have our Christmas lunch here in October. They were very polite and replied immediately. When we arrived we were given a table for 2 on the window upstairs which was a beautiful spot. We were not rushed. The service was very good and polite. We were not sure what the food would be like as our French is minimal, however we had the chicken and the fish. Both absolutely delightful. Our sweet was a total Christmas surprise and was sensational. We finished with a very well brewed coffee. We highly recommend this restaurant, we would love to do it all again.

The snails were a success we had so much fun with it as entrées at the beginning of our evening here. The Tarte aux oignons howerver was better elsewhere in Strasbourg. The soupe à l’oignon so tasty. With champaign 65€/person. A so kind and attentive service. The service team take really good care of us we were 9 with kids. In summer the serve only at the terrace inside too warm. Lovely romantic atmosphere outside on the edge of water and also with the boats coming away through the water navigation lock right there form the restaurant’s terrace. Lovely evening with the boat shows for kids and adults. The choucroute is amazing. Le dessert Prune plum au Pinot noir is so worth the price. Good espresso. The “Poire Belle Helène” dessert is a flop too much Crème Chantilly but the chocolate sauce is so tasty. It is a revisited version not the typical one. Kids menu available. The Wiener schnizel was tasty. Toilets downstairs clean. In general the price/quality ratio is good. Reservations highly recommended. Only 10 max tables under sunshades. Closed sundays.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4/5 – Traditional Alsatian Charm with a View I had lunch at Maison des Tanneurs, a historic and charming Winstub in the heart of La Petite France. The setting is beautiful — especially the quiet garden terrace by the water, which feels like a little escape from the crowds. I ordered the famous Choucroute Maison, which came with a variety of meats. The flavors were authentic, but I found the meat a little dry. Still, it was a solid and traditional experience overall. The mustard and horseradish on the side were excellent and added a nice kick. Service was friendly and attentive, and the ambiance felt warm and very local — not overly touristic despite the central location. Would I return? Yes — especially for the setting and atmosphere. But next time, I might try a different dish. Perfect for those who want to experience traditional Alsatian cuisine in one of Strasbourg’s most picturesque corners.

Maison Des Tanneurs offers an enjoyable l culinary journey, my standout dishes was escargot and French onion soup for appetizers. The le saumon cru marine, though fresh, had a slightly overly tart citrus sauce for my personal taste. The duck breast in honey and spices was a highlight, perfectly prepared and bursting with flavor. Service was attentive throughout, enhancing the overall dining experience. For sure a must visit.

Recommend visiting! Delicious food here! I had the duck and chocolate fondue cake which I enjoyed. Service was friendly and efficient, smooth process ordering. Loved being able to experience being in such a building with its rich history. Cons; -Unfortunately you can’t see the much of the waterways when seated due to the design-(high window sill with flower pots) , however you can still see the beautiful buildings. -Menu book has print which is not clear to read ( it urgently needs replacing as it gives a poor initial impression once you are seated) Overall happy I visited , thankyou

I have gotten the recommendation for this restaurant from someone that lived in strasbourg and I am not disappointed. I found the portions to be quite big for a restaurant with a more formal setting. The duck was incredible. I can also recommend the snails. The restaurant is obviously not cheap, but I would say it delivers for its price tag. The atmosphere is very cozy because it is dimly light and they have few tables. That is why I highly recommend to reserve in advance! The waiters also have been very efficient and friendly. The bathroom is goof for french standards ;)

I had a lovely lunch here, the food was different and very flavorful. The sauerkraut I tried is absolutely delicious, it was the best I’ve had. I ordered the deer medallion which came with a hearty rich gravy/sauce. There was spaetzle, some potato puree, red cabbage, an apple which had been roasted in flavor. It was all quite delicious and the side fruit and berry compote complimented the deer very well. Mom ordered the pig knuckle with sauerkraut. That was delicious, and paired with their mustard, even better.
